Higher stress around the holidays and having (what seems to be) more to do than we can ever hope to accomplish repeatedly lead to an increase in accidents this time of year. Safety precautions get lost in the rush to get things done! But, hobbling around on a sprained ankle, incurring an even more serious injury or being sidelined entirely with a holiday-induced Illness will put a definite kink in those holiday plans. So, here is a collection of holiday safety reminders we would like to share with you and your family (as published in the National Safety Council’s Safety + Health Magazine):

Baking (especially festive Christmas cookies) is often a time-honored family tradition. But, the FDA warns not to invite unwanted holiday “guests” into your kitchen like Salmonella and E. coli which are among the bacteria that can be found in raw dough. These can lead to diarrhea, abdominal cramps and – in severe cases – kidney failure. See F
