There is a grass dog run inside the Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza adjacent to Karuizawa Station, and the pet salon PET-SPA Karuizawa is located in the same area.
This shop offers grooming, supplies, food, and a pet hotel, so it's convenient to leave your pet there while you're shopping at Prince Shopping Plaza or traveling. Prices vary depending on the size of the dog, and there are three types of stays: short stay (1-3 hours), one-day stay (open to close), and hotel (24 hours). You can also have your pet shampooed or groomed while you're there. We also have rental carts for pets available inside the building so you can shop with your pet.
A full range of care options available

The care menu includes a full range of services, including trimming, shampooing, and nail clipping. The store also sells original dog food, pet treats made with ingredients from Shinshu, clothes, leashes, toys, and more. This is a store you can rely on if you have any trouble with your pet while traveling in Karuizawa.

2Trick Art Museum Karuizawa

Trick art and objects look different depending on the angle you look at them from. Taking trick photos in a museum full of tricks is a fun Experience. At the photo spots, there are marks on the ground so you know where to stand, and there are instructions on how to pose, so anyone can easily take trick photos.
Each floor has a variety of photo spots to match the thematic exhibits, such as "Magical Zoo" and "World Masterpiece Paintings and Sculptures."
Pets allowed throughout the building

Pets are also allowed inside the building, so you can take them with you wherever you want. You can take trick photos with your pet at the photo spots, so it's perfect for a souvenir photo. You can also enjoy a meal together in the cafe space.

3DOG DEPT GARDEN Karuizawa store

Along Prince Street in Karuizawa, about a 7-minute drive from Karuizawa Station, you will find DOG DEPT GARDEN Karuizawa, which has a large dog run surrounded by trees. The dog run is characterized by being covered with wood chips. It is a little small for large dogs to run around, but there is also a covered dog run that is large enough for small dogs to run around, so they can have plenty of fun even on rainy days.
After letting your dog play in the woods, you can freshen up in a hot shower for dogs. Water is provided free of charge, so you can relax without worrying. You can also enjoy shopping at the shop, which is full of dog goods.

The cafe and Restaurant is located in a villa-like building, with 40 seats inside the high-ceilinged restaurant and 42 seats on the spacious terrace. 4Karuizawa Botanical Garden

Karuizawa Town is a town located on a plateau at an altitude of about 1000m. The average temperature is low throughout the year, and the area has a cool climate. Karuizawa Town Botanical Garden has about 145 families and 1600 types of trees and flowers planted in springs, wetlands, and slopes. Pets are allowed in the garden, so you can enjoy a stroll together.

There are observation paths in the garden, so you can observe the plants of Karuizawa in their natural state in each season. Since it is a small botanical garden, it is a recommended spot to relax with your pet and experience the nature of Karuizawa while taking a break in the rest areas and gazebos.

5Yukawa Hometown Park

Located in Nakakaruizawa, this park has a vast lawn and offers a panoramic view of Mt. Asama. The promenade along the lush Yukawa River is also recommended for walking pets.
Part of the park has been divided into separate dog runs for large and small dogs, with double doors at the entrance. There is a washing area near the entrance, so even if your dog gets muddy after playing, you can wash it off with water.

6Onioshidashi Park

Created by lava from the eruption of Mount Asama about 240 years ago, Onioshidashi Park is a spot where you can feel the power of nature. It is a scenic spot where magnificent rock artworks unfold.
You can enjoy the different seasons: alpine plants in spring, cool weather in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy scenery in winter.
Pets are allowed in the Asama Hokuroku Geopark area, including the Onioshidashi Park. You can take your dog for a walk while enjoying the scenery. There is also a watering station for pets in the park. *Not available in winter.
Onioshi Dog Run

On the opposite side of the lava rock area at an altitude of 1,300m, is the approximately 4,400m2 Onioshi Dog Run (fee required).
The breeze blowing through the shade of the trees is refreshing, and dogs will love the full lawn, where they can play safely.
There are separate areas for large and small dogs, a double door entrance and a washing area.
